Pain, Endometriosis, Fibroids, Cysts

Many different problems can have the symptom of pelvic, lower abdominal or lower back pain. Pain in these locations can come from any of the organs in the lower abdominal or pelvic spaces including the reproductive organs, bladder or bowels.

Pain in this region can also come from the back or from joints and muscles in the pelvic sidewalls or pelvic floor.

Ovarian cysts, endometriosis, adenomyosis and fibroids can (but do not always) produce pelvic pain. The bladder or the bowels may produce pelvic pain, and many women experience pelvic pain with menstruation, often very severe. Internal scar formation ( from things like prior surgery, infection, endometriosis) or hernias can also cause pain.

Other, primarily structural problems with the lower back, muscles of the lower abdominal wall or pelvic floor will generate pain. Many of these problems causing pain can be treated non-surgically and (most of the time) the symptom of pain is not caused by cancer.
